Shelley downed in 3A third-place game; Oct. 20 girls soccer roundup

Marsh Valley 2, Shelley 1: At Twin Falls, Amanda Marshall and Jacine May both scored goals and Marsh Valley held on to beat Shelley in the third-place game.

Jasmin Vega scored the lone goal for Shelley, which finishes the season 11-4-7.

McCall-Donnelly 2, Community School 1: At Twin Falls, Jenna Ball scored twice and McCall-Donnelly beat Community School for the third time this season, this time for the state title. Kathryn Egnew made 11 saves for McCall-Donnelly (18-1-1) while Hannah Dies scored the lone goal for Community School (18-3-1).

Fruitland 4, American Falls 0: At Twin Falls, Brooke Tennissen scored two goals to lead Fruitland past American Falls in the consolation championship game.

5A state tournament

Lake City 0, Post Falls 0 (Lake City won 5-4 in penalty kicks): At Coeur d’Alene, Lake City got successful penalty kicks from five players to edge Post Falls and claim a state championship. Tiegan Horton made four saves to earn the shutout for Lake City (10-6-4).

Bishop Kelly 2, Century 0: At the Idaho Falls Soccer Complex, Mickie Piechowski nad Maddie Minnaert scored goals and Bishop Kelly blanked Century to cap an undefeated season with a state championship.

Kindall Muire made three saves for BK (22-0-0)

Twin Falls 4, Moscow 3: At the Idaho Falls Soccer Complex, Maddie Watkins, Carolyn Hernandez, Ellen Bartlett and Haley Hutchinson all scored goals and Twin Falls (18-3-0) won the third-place game.

Preston 2, Wood River 1: At the Idaho Falls Soccer Complex, Whitney Alder scored a golden goal five minutes into overtime to lead Preston past Wood River in the consolation championship.
