Bandits, Bees, Grizzlies, Rockies all win; July 13 Legion roundup

At Boulder, Colo., the Idaho Falls Bandits rallied for a win over the Grandview Wolves on the second day of the Boulder Tournament to keep their win streak intact.

The Bandits, who have won 14 consecutive games, led 5-2 through two innings before Grandview scored six runs in the top of the third. Idaho Falls responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame to tie the contest 8-8. An RBI double by Hunter Leavitt and an RBI single by Reed Hueter pushed the Bandits ahead 10-8 in the bottom of the sixth. The Wolves made it a one-run game in the top of the seventh, but came no closer.

Hueter went 3 for 4 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored, Thomas Alexander went 1 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored and Leavitt went 1 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored for the Bandits (38-3).

RIGBY ROCKIES 15, JEROME 2 (5 INNINGS); ROCKIES 9, JEROME 4: At Jerome, the Rigby Rockies swept a Double-A American Legion doubleheader.

The Rockies outhit Jerome 15-2 en route to a 13-2 game one win in five innings. All but one member of Rigby’s lineup got a hit. Kaden Holloway went 3 for 4 with two doubles and three runs scored while Rhett Pinnock went 2 for 4 with two doubles, four RBIs and a run scored.

The Rockies were outhit 10-8 in game two, but Jerome committed five errors. Seven runs through the third and fourth innings pushed Rigby to an 8-2 lead. Cody Christensen went 1 for 4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored while Timmy Eissler went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored for the Rockies (8-19), who play today at Twin Falls.

IDAHO FALLS BEES 7, SUGAR-SALEM 4: IDAHO FALLS BEES 9, SUGAR-SALEM 4: At Bonneville High School, the Idaho Falls Bees swept Sugar Salem in a single-A doubleheader.

The Bees utilized a five-run sixth inning to down Sugar-Salem 9-4 and complete Thursday evening’s sweep. Bryson Sullivan broke a 4-4 tie in the top of the fourth, hitting a sac-fly to drive in a run.
From there, Idaho Falls outscored Sugar-Salem 7-0 in the final two frames.

During game one, Idaho Falls grabbed the lead late after scoring two runs in the top of the sixth. The Bees would go on to win 7-4 after pitcher Taylor Cannon shut the door on Sugar-Salem.

This sweep puts the Bees at 24-12 this summer.

SKYLINE GRIZZLIES 9, POCATELLO REBELS 0; SKYLINE GRIZZLIES 7, POCATELLO REBELS 2: At Skyline High School, The Grizzlies swept the Rebels in a Single-A American Legion baseball doubleheader. It was all Skyline’s Austin Charboneau.

During game two’s 7-2 win, Charboneau was responsible for five RBIs — finishing 3 for 4 at the plate.
He threw a shutout earlier in the day, leading Skyline to a 9-0 win while also controlling Pocatello on the mound.

He pitched a complete game, striking out five batters and allowing five hits on 81 pitches.
Tim Orgill led the Grizzlies offensively, going 2 for 3 and two RBIs. Adryan Lopez added three RBIs during the win.
