Bandits, Bees, Tigers all sweep; July 12 Legion roundup

At Boulder, Colo., the Idaho Falls Bandits extended their win streak to 13 games with a pair of wins to open the Boulder Tournament.

The Bandits downed the Game Day Friars 10-5 in six innings to begin the day. They led 6-0 through three innings before the Friars started cutting the deficit. Brandon Bialas and Thomas Alexander each went 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored while Caden White went 2 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored and Randon Hostert went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.

The Bandits ended Friday with a 9-1 win over Boco Baseball in four innings. Alexander went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple, five RBIs and a run scored to lead the Bandits (37-3).

IDAHO FALLS BEES 8, BLACKFOOT 0; IDAHO FALLS BEES 13, BLACKFOOT 6: At Blackfoot, the Bees swept a Single-A American Legion baseball doubleheader with Blackfoot.

Idaho Falls outhit Blackfoot 11-2 in the first game, holding a 7-0 lead through four innings. Starting pitcher Jordan Perez held the Broncos to no runs on one hit while walking one and striking out none in three innings pitched and also went 3 for 3 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and two runs at the plate. Tavyn Lords went 2 for 3 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored.

All but one batter got a hit for the Bees in the game two win. A four-run fourth inning helped Blackfoot cut the deficit to 7-5, but the Bees piled on six runs over the next three frames, including a five-run seventh inning, to put the game away. Andrew Olaveson went 1 for 3 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored, Perez went 2 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored and Lords went 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored for the Bees (22-12), who play a doubleheader at Sugar-Salem today.

IDAHO FALLS TIGERS 18, MADISON 2 (5 INNINGS); IDAHO FALLS TIGERS 12, MADISON 2 (6 INNINGS): At Tautphaus Park, the Tigers recorded 28 hits in a Single-A American Legion doubleheader sweep of Madison.

The Tigers piled on 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning en route to a five-inning game one win. They outhit the Bobcats 16-6. Logan Ferguson went 2 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, Dillon Lennon went 2 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and run scored and Trey Smith went 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored.

The Tigers kept up the hit parade in game two, building an 8-1 lead through four innings en route to a six-inning win. Braxton Ball went 3 for 3 with a triple, three RBIs and a run scored while Jackson Madsen 1 for 2 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored for Idaho Falls (16-16-1), which plays a doubleheader Friday at Skyline.
