Bandits down Blackfoot, move to 35-3; July 11 Legion roundup

At Melaleuca, the Idaho Falls Bandits snagged two five-inning victories over Blackfoot with identical scores of 13-3 and moved to 35-3 overall.

The Bandits scored 12 runs in the bottom of the first en route to a game one win, capitalizing on five hits, two errors, four walks, and a hit batter.

Winning pitcher Thomas Alexander went 1 for 2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored while Reed Hueter went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored for the Bandits. Emerson Stucki went 1 for 3 with an RBI for Blackfoot in game one.

Blackfoot and the Bandits entered the third inning of game two knotted at 3-3 before the Bandits broke open the contest with seven runs in the bottom of the third. All but three Bandits batter got a hit in game two.

George Sabena went 1 for 3 and Conner Kershaw went 1 for 3 with a run scored for Blackfoot. Winning pitcher Bryson Tibbitts went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored while Brandon Bialas went 2 for 4 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored for the Bandits, who have now won 11 consecutive games.

IDAHO FALLS BEES 6, UPPER VALLEY 1; UPPER VALLEY 8, IDAHO FALLS BEES 2: At St. Anthony, the Bees split a Single-A American Legion baseball doubleheader with Upper Valley.

The Bees held Upper Valley scoreless through six innings of a 6-1 game one win. Upper Valley scored its lone run in the bottom of the seventh off an error.

Tavyn Lords went 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored while Andrew Olaveson went 1 for 1 with a double, an RBI and a run scored for the Bees in game one.

Upper Valley flipped the script in game two, holding the Bees scoreless through six innings en route to an 8-2 win. The Bees got on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh with an RBI double by Jordan Perez.

Perez went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Bees (20-12), who play a doubleheader today at Blackfoot.

SKYLINE GRIZZLIES 13, RIGBY 6; SKYLINE GRIZZLIES 13, RIGBY 0 (5 INNINGS): At Skyline High School, the Grizzlies swept a Single-A American Legion baseball doubleheader with Rigby.

Skyline outscored Rigby 10-3 in the final four innings to take game one, getting a hit from all but one batter to go to the plate. Easton Taylor went 2 for 3 with a double and three runs scored, Tim Orgill went 2 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored and Cruz Taylor went 2 for 5 with two RBIs and a run scored.

The Grizzlies shut out Rigby in game two for a five-inning win. Skyline stretched its lead to 13-0 after a six-run fourth inning, capitalizing on four errors, four hits and a fielder’s choice.
Mason Jacobson went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple, five RBIs and three runs scored while Kempton Motes went 1 for 2 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored for the Grizzlies (14-10-1), who host Pocatello for a doubleheader on Thursday.

IDAHO FALLS TIGERS 13, POCATELLO REBELS 10: At Pocatello, the Idaho Falls Tigers outlasted the Pocatello Rebels for a Single-A American Legion win.

The Tigers led 8-0 through three innings before the Rebels knotted the contest at 9-9 through four innings. The contest remained deadlocked at 10-10 after seven innings, forcing extras. An RBI double by Taggert Miller and a two-RBI triple by Dillon Lennon put the Tigers ahead 13-10 in the top of the eighth, and they wrapped up the win in the next frame as Pocatello had three consecutive groundouts.

Miller went 4 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scoerd while Lennon went 3 for 5 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored for the Tigers (14-15-1), who host Madison in a doubleheader today.
