Bandits end final day in Denver with sweep; June 30 Legion roundup

At Denver, the Idaho Falls Bandits swept their opponents, beating the North Texas Bulldogs 7-2 before beating the Yard Dawgs in five innings, 11-3.

In game one, Bruer Webster and Easton Taylor combined for seven of the Bandits’ 12 hits. Webster went a perfect 4 for 4 with three RBIs while Taylor went 3 for 3 with two runs scored. Cannon Thompson almost went the distance on the mound, getting the win after pitching 6.2 innings and allowing two earned runs.

In game two, Taylor went 2 for 3 with four RBIs. The Bandits bounced back from a two run deficit midway through the first by scoring four in the second and five in the bottom of the fifth.

The Bandits (17-2-2) plays East Idaho Tuesday at Rexburg.

EAST IDAHO ROCKIES 9, JEROME CYCLONES 4; EAST IDAHO ROCKIES 11, JEROME 1 (5 INNINGS): At Rigby, the East Idaho Rockies swept the Jerome Cyclones thanks to early offense in game one and solid defense in game two.

In game one, Nick Fullmer went 2 for 4 and batted in two runs. The Rockies scored three runs in the bottom of the first and never trailed again. Wyatt Gilbert went 1 for 3 with a double and two RBIs.

In game two, the Rockies held the Cyclones hitless until the top of the fifth. Jaden Schwab got the win on the mound, walking two and striking out four in 3.2 innings pitched.

Jackson Madsen went 2 for 3 with two runs and three RBIs for the Rockies.

A 9-5 lead through three innings set the tone for Blackfoot en route to a win over Rocky Mountain. The Broncos outhit the Grizlies 18-7, getting at least one hit from everyone in the lineup. Benson Isom went 3 for 4 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored and Jace Jorgensen went 3 for 4 with two doubles, four RBIs and a run scored. Emerson Stucki took the win, allowing five runs on six hits in five innings pitched.

The Broncos were shut out by Mountain View later Saturday. The Toros scored five runs in the fourth inning to jump to a 6-0 lead and added two more runs in the sixth. Cayden Cornell (1 for 3) and Rhys Pope (1 for 2) had the lone hits for Blackfoot (11-1), which hosts the Pocatello Rebels for a doubleheader Thursday.

The Tigers came from behind to win game one thanks to a six-run seventh inning. Braxton Ball went 3 for 4 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored while Eliot Jones went 1 for 3 with two RBIs.

The Tigers defeated Hillcrest in six innings in game two, scoring nine runs in the sixth. Jaxon Sorenson went 3 for 5 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored and Ball went 2 for 5 with three RBIS and two runs scored for the Tigers (17-6).
