Bandits split with Runnin Rebels; July 6 Legion roundup

At Pocatello, the Idaho Falls Bandits split a Double-A American Legion baseball doubleheader with the Pocatello Runnin Rebels for the second time this summer.

The Runnin Rebels, who are responsible for handing the Bandits their lone losses to an Idaho team thus far this summer, held off the Bandits to take a tight game one 6-5. The Rebels outhit the Bandits 8-6, led 4-3 through two innings and 6-4 through five innings. Caden Christensen went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Andrew Gregersen went 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored and Bruer Webster went 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

The Bandits held off the Runnin Rebels 5-4 in game two. Pocatello scored two runs in the seventh inning, but could not complete the rally. Gregersen went 2 for 2 with two runs scored, Bridger Taylor went 2 for 3 and Webster went 1 for 4 with an RBI for the Bandits (21-4-2).

EAST IDAHO ROCKIES 4, EVANSTON 3; PCH BASEBALL 9, EAST IDAHO ROCKIES 1: At Jackson, Wyo., the East Idaho Rockies Double-A American Legion baseball team split on the first day of a tournament in Jackson.

The Rockies defeated Evanston early in the day, getting on the scoreboard in the final four innings of the game. Per East Idaho’s GameChanger account, the score was changed from 5-3 to 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning. McGwire Jephson went 2 for 4, Dimond Hepworth went 1 for 2 with two RBIs and a run scored, Grady Rasmussen went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored and Trey Armstrong went 1 for 3 with a run scored for the Rockies.

East Idaho fell to PCH Baseball later in the day, being held to one run in the second inning. PCH Baseball outhit the Rockies 9-6 and led 5-1 through four innings. Moki Jensen went 2 for 2, Keegan Zundel went 1 for 3 with an RBI and Jackson Madsen went 1 for 2 with a run scored for East Idaho (11-16-1), which plays today in Jackson against Pleasant Grove and Park City Baseball Academy.

IDAHO FALLS TIGERS 13, BONNEVILLE BEES 3 (5 INNINGS); IDAHO FALLS TIGERS 7, BONNEVILLE BEES 6: At Tautphaus Park, the Idaho Falls Tigers rallied in game two to complete a Single-A American Legion baseball doubleheader sweep of the Bonneville Bees.

The Tigers 10-runned the Bees for a five-inning game one win. Idaho Falls, which outhit Bonneville 11-5, scored nine runs in the final two innings. Paul Wilson went 2 for 3 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored, Chris Dompier went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and Braxton Ball went 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

The Bees took a 5-0 lead through three innings of game two. The Tigers were scoreless until the sixth inning, when they cut the deficit to 5-4. The Bees tied the game 5-5 in the top of the seventh, to which the Tigers responded with three runs to complete the rally. Jaxon Sorenson went 2 for 2 with a triple and two runs scored while Ball went 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored for the Tigers (23-6).
