Bandits sweep Minico, move to 23-42; July 7 Legion roundup

At Melaleuca Field, the Idaho Falls Bandits collected 19 hits in a Double-A American Legion doubleheader sweep of the Minico Storm.

The Bandits defeated the Storm 3-1 in game one, scoring two runs in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie. Bruer Webster and Easton Taylor each went 1 for 3 with a run scored.

Idaho Falls outhit Minico 14-3 in an 11-1 game two win, scoring six runs in the bottom of the second to take an 8-1 lead. Eight Bandits recorded at least one extra base hit in the win. Bridger Taylor went 1 for 4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored, Webster went 2 for 2 with a double, a triple, an RBI and three runs scored and Alex Cortez went 4 for 4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored for Idaho Falls (23-4-2), who play a doubleheader Monday at Blackfoot.

The Rockies fell to Pleasant Grove, Utah, early in the day. Pleasant Grove led 4-1 through five innings and outhit East Idaho 10-5. Jackson Madsen went 2 for 3 with a run scored while Trey Armstrong and Peyton Boudrero each went 1 for 3.

The Rockies shut out Park City Baseball Academy later Saturday, outhitting them 13-4. Curtis Drake went 2 for 3 with two triples, an RBI and two runs scored, Mason Jacobsen went 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored and Jaden Schwab went 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored for East Idaho (12-17-1).
