Blackfoot beats Madison, March 13 baseball round up

At Blackfoot, the Blackfoot High School baseball team bucked the Bobcats 5-4 after scoring four runs in the fifth inning and securing its one-run lead in the top of the seventh.

Blackfoot’s Joseph Maddox led the way, going 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Jared Gough went 2 for 3 with a run while Payson Mills went 1 for 2 with a run and two RBIs

“I like our pitching. I got pitchers,” Blackfoot coach Liam Pope. “I like how we looked defensively.”

Madison’s Caden Holloway went 1 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI while Jordan Porter went 1 for 2.

Emerson Stucki earned the win, allowing just one hit in four frames pitched while striking out four. Carter Cooper recorded the save for the Broncos.

Blackfoot (2-0) hosts Hillcrest today while Madison (0-1) hosts Skyline on Friday.

RIGBY 8, SKYLINE 7: At Skyline, Rigby pulled out a close one over Skyline, protecting a one run lead in the bottom of the seventh.

The Trojans took a one-run lead in the top of the fourth due to six runs. It added one more insurance run in the fifth to give Rigby the win.

Skyline committed seven errors during the loss. It was Skyline’s season opener.

Rigby’s Tanner Clayton was solid on the mound, walking three while striking out six in three innings pitched. Mcgwire Jephson went 3 for 5 with two RBIs while Freddie Sheppard went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI for Rigby, which plays Idaho Falls on Friday at Melaleuca Field.

Tim Orgill went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored while Easton Taylor went 1 for 3 with three runs scored for Skyline (0-1), which plays the same day at Madison. Austin Charboneau took the loss, giving up six runs on three hits while walking three and striking out one in one inning.
