Blackfoot splits doubleheader with Pocatello Runnin’ Rebels

At Blackfoot, the Blackfoot double-A American Legion team split its double header with Pocatello Thursday, beating the Runnin’ Rebels 6-3 before losing 14-12 in game two.

In game one, Blackoot took an early 4-0 lead before shutting the door on Pocatello in the top of the seventh. Rhys Pope went the distance on the mound, striking out four in seven innings of work. He allowed six hits and gave up two earned runs. Juan Pimentel kept the Broncos’ offense afloat with consistency at the plate Thursday. He went a perfect 3 for 3, as Benson Isom went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs.

In game two, the Broncos rallied late with an 8-run, sixth inning, but it was not enough, as the Runnin’ Rebels outscored them 4-1 in the final fame.

The game saw a combined 23 hits and eight errors from the two teams, as the only inning a team didn’t score was the second.

NAMPA 17, SKYLINE (A) 4: Nampa dominated the Grizzlies in five innings after scoring 10 runs in the first two innings during Skyline’s only game Thursday.

Korbin Bauer allowed seven hits and seven earned runs in 1.2 innings pitched with a home run. Ryan Horvath went 2 for 3 with an RBI, as Skyline scored four runs on four hits.

During game one, the Bees outclassed the Bobcats in six innings after scoring nine runs in the final frame.

Dawson Fullmer finished 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Fullmer would go 2 for 4 in game two with two RBIs and a double.

In a back-and-forth game two, which saw six lead changes, the two teams played to a draw after the Bees scored five runs in the top of the seventh.

Madison finished with 11 hits and no errors in game two. Bonneville had five errors during the tie.

In a 10-inning battle, East Idaho scored six runs in the top of the 10th to finally break a 1-1 stalemate. Trey Armstrong went 2 for 5 at the plate during the extra innings win, as Davis Berry hit a double.

In game two, Peton Boudero scored the Rockies’ sole run, as Twin Falls scored five combined runs in the final three frames.

In game one, Jaxon Sorenson, Braxton Ball and Taggert Miller led the Tigers offense with each garnering two hits and a double, respectively. The Tigers jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the top of the fifth and never trailed.

In game two, the Tigers’ trip of Sorenson, Ball and Paul Wilson did all of the offensive damage, as Ball and Wilson hit home runs during the win. Ball finished 2 for 4 at the plate. Nate Rose got the win on the mound, striking out four batters and surrendering no hits or runs in the five innings pitched.
