Bonneville scores 28 runs in sweep of Pocatello; July 12 Legion roundup

At Pocatello, the Bonneville Bees collected 23 hits in Thursday’s Single-A American Legion baseball doubleheader sweep of the Pocatello Rebels.

The Bees scored in every inning of a 14-1 game one win in five innings. Bonneville scored nine runs in the final two frames to end the game. Kai Howell went 1 for 1 with a double and three runs scored, Dylan Forsgren went 1 for 3 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored and Mason Dale went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a run scored.

The Bees held off the Rebels 14-10 in game two, which featured a combined 24 hits. Bonneville led 10-0 through three innings before Pocatello began closing the gap. Jack Fransen went 3 for 4 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored, Gabe Taylor went 4 for 5 with a triple, four RBIs and a run scored, Dale went 2 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored and Forsgren went 1 for 2 with a double and two runs scored for the Bees (18-13-1), which hosts Hillcrest for a doubleheader Saturday morning.

MADISON BOBCATS 7, HILLCREST KNIGHTS 1; HILLCREST KNIGHTS 12, MADISON BOBCATS 2 (5 INNINGS): At Rexburg, the Hillcrest Knights split a Double-A American Legion baseball doubleheader with the Madison Bobcats.

The Bobcats outhit the Knights 8-4 and held them to a single run in the first inning in a game one win. Bracken Mason went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI for the Knights.

The Knights flipped the script to take game two in five innings. Hillcrest, which outhit Madison 10-4, took an 8-2 lead through three innings after scoring six runs in the second inning. Caleb Harris went 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored and Luke Patterson went 2 for 3 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored for the Knights (23-8), who host the Bonneville Bees in a doubleheader Saturday morning.
