Rockies’ bats come alive in game two to get split versus Storm; July 2 Legion roundup

At Rigby, the East Idaho Rockies put on a show in game two to complete a split of a Double-A American Legion doubleheader against the Minico Storm.

The Storm defeated the Rockies 18-4 in game one, outhitting them 10-6. The Rockies sent three pitchers to the mound in the loss. Jaden Schwab went 2 for 3 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored while Nick Fullmer went 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored.

The Rockies turned the table in an 11-9 game two win, outhitting the Storm 12-8 and getting six extra base hits. Moki Jensen went 3 for 3 with a double, two triples, two RBIs and two runs scored, Jackson Madsen went 3 for 4 with two doubles, a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored while Schwab went 2 for 4 with a double and three runs scored for East Idaho (10-13-1), which plays the Idaho Falls Bandits today in a doubleheader in Rexburg.

SKYLINE GRIZZLIES 15, SHELLEY RUSSETS 4; SKYLINE GRIZZLIES 10, SHELLEY RUSSETS 8 (5 INNINGS): At Shelley, the Skyline Grizzlies Single-A American Legion baseball team swept a doubleheader against Shelley.

The Grizzlies scored early and often in game one, building a 10-0 lead through two innings en route to a five-inning win. Skyline outhit Shelley 13-4. Kempton Motes went 3 for 4 with a double and four RBIs to lead Skyline while Blake Leal went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI for Shelley.

Skyline held off Shelley in game two. The Grizz scored seven runs in the first inning before the Russets cut the deficit to two runs by scoring six in the fifth and sixth innings. Leal went 1 for 4 with a double and a run scored for Shelley while Logan Taggart went 1 for 3 with a triple and two runs scored for the Grizzlies (10-15-3).

Dylan Seeley and Kaleb Belknap combined to throw the one-hitter in game one. Braxton Ball went 2 for 2 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored while Paul Wilson went 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

The Tigers outhit the Rebels 11-6 in game two, leading 6-0 through four innings. Jaxon Sorenson went 4 for 4 with a double while Taggert Miller went 2 for 4 with three runs scored for the Tigers (19-6).
