South Fremont baseball earns trip to 3A state tournament

SOUTH FREMONT 13, FILER 3: At Pocatello, South Fremont’s potent offense propelled it to a 3A state tournament birth, as the cougars knocked in 14 runs in five innings.

Reece and Kyler Yancey led the way for South Fremont offensively, going 3 for 4, respectively, at the plate. Reece hit in a double and a triple. Kyler hit a double during the win. Talon Maupin went 3 for 3 with two RBIs. Carson Crapo went 2 for 4 and a double, as South Fremont plays Homedale Thursday a Treasure Valley Community College. First pitch is at 7 p.m.

Alonzo Gonzalez got the win on the mound, striking out seven batters on 86 pitches. He allowed four hits, three earned runs and walked three.
