Blackfoot downs Poky, moves to 7-0-0; Sept. 11 boys soccer roundup

At Pocatello High School, the Blackfoot boys soccer team’s success this fall continued in dominating fashion.

The Broncos beat the Indians 9-0 Monday evening behind eight different goal scorers.

Daniel Martinez led all with two goals, as Blackfoot led halfway through the match, 6-0.

“We moved the ball really well,” Blackfoot coach Liam Pope said.

Coque Velasquez, Exon Corona, Frankie Garcia, Omar Cardenas, Sam Reyna, Nick Quezada and Jose Martinez were the Broncos’ other scorers.

Blackfoot (7-0-0) plays Century Wednesday at Blackfoot.

RIGBY 2, HIGHLAND 1: At Rigby, the Trojans beat the Rams after leading 1-0 at half.

Rigby coach Bart Mower said the Trojans scored in the first four minutes after a “great passing sequence.”

Highland then tied the game when Rigby responded with a “beautiful cross.”

“It was a good win,” Mower said.

Rigby (4-4-0, 2-1) plays Saturday at Skyline next. Kick-off is at 11 a.m.

CENTURY 0, IDAHO FALLS 0: Idaho Falls and Century played to a draw Monday, as Tigers’ coach Ryan Cook said he was proud of his boys’ performance.

“If you’re a fan, it’s an exciting game to watch,” Cook said. “If you’re a coach, it gives you a heart attack.”

The Tigers (2-1-1 in conference) play Skyline Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The match takes place at Ravsten Stadium.

SKYLINE 1, PRESTON 1: At the Idaho Falls Soccer Complex, Skyline and Preston played to a draw 1-1 after a Garret Wadsworth goal with 12 minutes left in regulation.

“In was nice to get a point back, especcialy in a tight league like this and even when you really only played a half,” Skyline coach Bryaun Moretz said.

Skyline (1-1-2 in conference) plays Idaho Falls Wednesday at Ravsten Stadium.
