Christensen scores four goals for Diggers in 8-1 win; Sept. 8 boys soccer roundup

At Sugar City, Ace Christensen had a hat trick plus one for Sugar-Salem in its 8-1 Mountain Rivers Conference opening win over South Fremont.

In addition to the four goals by Christensen for the Diggers, who led 2-1 at halftime, Dan Shirley had two goals and Bridger Esplin and Jordan Dayley each had one goal.

“This is our fourth game of the season and we’re scoring lots of goals,” Sugar-Salem coach Oscar Bustos said.

Sugar-Salem (4-0-0, 1-0-0) plays Saturday at 11 a.m. at Snake River.

TETON 4, SHELLEY 1: At Driggs, Teton defeated Shelley for a conference win.

Isaac Bunce scored in the 50th minute for Shelley, which trailed 2-0 at halftime.

“We let one in early and one in late,” Shelley coach Wes Stumbo said. “Other than that, it was a pretty good game.”

Shelley (2-3-0, 1-1-0) hosts Aberdeen at 1 p.m. Saturday while Teton (4-0-0, 2-0-0) plays Saturday at 11 a.m. at Snake River.
