Skyline’s Ames III receives national recognition

Skyline High School senior running back David Ames III received a national honor on Tuesday.

Ames III, the 2016 Post Register All-Area Football Player of the Year and a Weber State football signee, was named the 2017 All-American Athlete of the Year by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, an international nonprofit professional associationbased in Colorado Springs. Ames III was nominated by Skyline coach Justin Jicha for his “dedication to improve in athletics whilemaintaining academic prominence.” The complete list of 2017 winners has not yet been released, but 295 college athletes and 117 highschool athletes were recognized as All-American Athletes of the Year in 2016.
