Baron nets hat trick for Shelley in 4-2 win

At Driggs, Brittney Baron had a hat trick for the Shelley High School girls soccer team in a 4-2 conference win over Teton.

All three of Baron’s goals were in the second half: one with an assist from Emma Stohl, an unassisted shot from 15 yards out and a direct free kick. Brie Stumbo scored Shelley’s first goal in the 26th minute off a converted corner kick by Abbey Crandall. Cici Chavez scored for Teton off a Sofie Graupner assist in the 35th minute and Haley Janus scored off a Graupner assist in the 80th minute.

“They’re an experienced team that took advantages of the opportunities as they arose,” Teton coach Sandy Buckstaff said of Shelley. “Our team had several lapses and they punished us for them, which good teams do. Give them credit.”

Teton (2-2-0, 1-1-0) plays Saturday at 11 a.m. at Snake River while Shelley (5-0-0, 2-0-0) hosts Aberdeen at 11 a.m. Saturday.
