Bees shut out Rigby; Aug. 30 girls soccer roundup

At Rigby, Bonneville shut out the Trojans 6-0 for its first conference win.

The Bees, who led 3-0 at halftime, got two goals from Kiani Hill and one each from Jackie Mendez, Kennedy Hart and Holli Virgil. The other goal was a Rigby own goal.

All four goal scorers are seniors.

“They’re kind of putting the team on their shoulders and carrying them,” Bonneville coach Amy Feik said. “The whole team is working really hard. We’re starting to come together.”

Bonneville (3-4-0, 1-1-0) plays Wednesday at Madison.

CENTURY 3, SKYLINE 1: At Pocatello, Century handed Skyline its first loss of the season in the second 4A District 5-6 game this season for both teams.

Century led 3-0 at halftime. No other details were available.

Skyline (2-1-1, 1-1-0) hosts Blackfoot on Wednesday.

POCATELLO 6, IDAHO FALLS 2: In Pocatello, the Tigers lost 6-2 despite two second-half goals from Gracy Keim.

Keim scored on a breakaway in the 16th minute of the second half before Cara Lee Brasher assisted Keim on her second goal of the match two minutes later.

Tigers’ coach Erika Cortez said Idaho Falls (0-4-0) has continued to improve as the season progresses.

“I love coaching these girls,” Cortez said. “They just kept pushing and pushing today and we got two goals out of it. It should only be up from here.”

Idaho Falls plays Rigby at home today. Kick-off is at 7 p.m.

PRESTON 4, BLACKFOOT 1: At Blackfoot, Preston defeated Blackfoot in a 4A District 5-6 contest. No other details were available.

Blackfoot (2-3-0, 1-1-0) plays Wednesday at Skyline.
