Hillcrest beats Rigby; Aug. 28 girls soccer round up

At McCowin Park, the Hillcrest Knights girls soccer team got three first half goals and had to hold off a charging Rigby Trojan squad in a 3-2 victory in both teams district opener. 

Kaylee Moss, Cienna Curtis and Brynlee Christensen each netted a first half goal.

“We have been working very hard the last few weeks to become the team we want to be,” Knights coach Danielle Francis said.

Hillcrest (2-2-0, 1-0) plays at Madison on Thursday at 7 p.m. While Rigby (0-2-0, 0-1) hosts Bonneville on Wednesday.

SKYLINE 5, POCATELLO 1: At the Idaho Falls Soccer Complex, Bailey Johnson scored two goals and recorded an assist as the Skyline Grizzles girls soccer team took down Pocatello 5-1 in both teams district opener.

Johnson scored the Grizzlies first goal on an assist from Brea Danklefsen and the third goal unassisted. Kristen Morrison scored the teams final two goals, the first unassisted and the final goal on an assist from Emily Stuart.

Skyline (1-1-1, 1-0 4A District 5-6) play at Century on Wednesday.

HIGHLAND 2, BONNEVILLE 0: At Bonneville High School, the Bees controlled possession, but two Rams goals were the difference as the Bees fell in their district opener.

Mallory Vawdry and Aubrey Hymas scored for the Rams.

Bonneville (2-4-0, 0-1) travels to Rigby on Wednesday.

BLACKFOOT 8, IDAHO FALLS 3: At the Idaho Falls Soccer Complex, the Blackfoot girls soccer team opened district play with an 8-3 win over Idaho Falls.

No other details were available.

Blackfoot (2-2-0, 1-0) hosts Preston on Wednesday. While Idaho Falls (0-3-0, 0-1) plays at Pocatello.
