Madison, Century advance to title games; Oct. 9 district girls soccer roundup

At Rexburg, top seeded Madison clinched its second consecutive 5A District 5-6 championship game appearance with a 5-1 win over Hillcrest. No other details were available as of press time.

Madison will host Highland Wednesday at 4 p.m. for the championship. Hillcrest plays at Bonneville in an elimination game also on Wednesday.

HIGHLAND 2, BONNEVILLE 0: At Pocatello, a pair of second half goals were enough to propel No. 2 seeded Highland to a 2-0 win over Bonneville.

The score was 0-0 at halftime before the Rams’ Natayla VanEtten scored in the 48th minute. Kylee Bennett scored the second goal in the 80th minute.

The third seeded Bees will host Hillcrest in an elimination game on Wednesday.

4A District 5-6 tournament

CENTURY 4, BLACKFOOT 0: At Century High School, undefeated and top seeded Century moved into the 4A District 5-6 championship game with a 4-0 win over Blackfoot. No other details were available as of press time.

Century will host Preston for the district title on Wednesday in Pocatello, while Blackfoot plays Skyline in an elimination game also on Wednesday.

PRESTON 2, SKYLINE 1: At the Idaho Falls Soccer Complex, Preston’s Stetson Pendleton scored a pair of first half goals as the number three seed Indians upset two seed Skyline 2-1.

Kristin Morrison scored Skyline’s lone goal late in the second half.

Preston will travel to Century Wednesday for the 4A District 5-6 championship game while Skyline will host Blackfoot in an elimination game the same day.
