Shelley moves to 4-0; Sept. 5 girls soccer roundup

At Shelley High School, Shelley bested Firth behind two goals scored by Eden Anderson and Abbey Crandall, respectively.

Anderson scored at the 22nd minute and Crandall scored in the 29th before both scored again in the back 40 minute to lead Shelley 6-0 over Firth.

Coach Jim Gregory said the key to Shelley’s success is their passing.

“Our real key to success is our passing game,” Gregory said. “If we pass well, we perform well.”

Shelley (4-0, 1-0) will play Thursday at South Fremont.

Teton 4, South Fremont 0: At Teton High School, the Redskins shut out the Cougars and started 1-0 in conference play.

Sandy Buckstaff called his team’s 4-0 win, “workman-like” as the Redskins lead at half 3-0.

Summer Quinlan, Annalea Brown, Abby Thomas and Kaitlyn Foster were Teton’s goal scorers.

South Fremont coach Joanna Bambo said the Cougars’ performance was a “notably improvement” from previous matches.

“We had more control of the ball,” Bambo said. “We didn’t seem as confused on the field as we were in previous matches.”

Teton (2-1, 1-0) plays Shelley on Thursday. Kick-off is at 4:30 p.m. South Fremont (2-3) plays Sugar-City.
