Skyline High School graduate Rylee Jensen’s latest honor is the biggest one awarded by the West Coast Conference.

The BYU sophomore outfielder was named Player of the Year by the league on Tuesday. The award comes a year after she received WCC Co-Freshman of the Year.

The fourth Cougar to receive Player of the Year, Jensen led the WCC in on-base percentage (.608), runs scored (18) and walks (11) and was second in batting average (.474). Player of the Year and the other major WCC awards are voted on by the league’s head coaches. In BYU’s doubleheader sweep of LMU over the weekend to win its fifth consecutive WCC title, Jensen went 2 for 3 in both games and scored three runs. The Cougars (35-20) begin their 15th consecutive NCAA Regionals today against Drake in Eugene, Ore.

A 2016 Skyline graduate, Jensen received the Post Register’s All-Area Softball Player of the Year award following a senior season where she batted .514 and had 37 RBIs, 13 home runs and 33 stolen bases.
