Snake River sweeps doubleheader in District 4

SNAKE RIVER 8, KIMBERLY 4; SNAKE RIVER 6, KIMBERLY 3: At Kimberly, Snake River strung together 21 hits in a nonconference doubleheader sweep of Kimberly.

The Panthers came from behind to win both games. Kimberly led 2-0 through three innings of the opener before Snake River took a 7-3 lead through five. Savanna Martin got the win in the circle, giving up four runs on nine hits while walking none and striking out one in seven innings.

“She’s got the weirdest screwball I’ve ever seen in my life,” Snake River coach Kay Martin said. “It’s good. It just breaks down and baffles a lot of hitters.”

Snake River trailed 2-o through three innings of the second game before scoring six runs in the fourth through sixth innings. Hailey McLean took the win, giving up three runs on six hits while walking two and striking out one in seven innings.

Makenzie Van Orden went 4 for 7 with a triple, three RBIs and a stolen base through the doubleheader while Abbie Tew went 3 for 8 with three doubles, an RBI, three runs scored and four stolen bases for the day. Cecilia Reyes went 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in game one while Martin went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple, and RBI and a run scored in the second game. Kenya Leavitt went 2 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and two stolen bases in game two for Snake River (3-0), which hosts Teton on Tuesday.
