Madison, Hillcrest crack top 10 at Capital Invite

At Boise, two District 6 tennis teams finished in the top 10 of the final standings Saturday at the 32-team Capital Invitational tournament.

Madison accumulated 251 points over the two-day tournament to place fifth while Hillcrest placed seventh with 224. Timberline won the tournament with 334 points.

The Bobcats won the boys 4 singles championship bracket (defeating Idaho Falls, Meridian, Rocky Mountain and Timberline), the boys 1 doubles championship bracket (defeating Rocky Mountain, Parma, Eagle and Boise) and the boys 2 doubles championship bracket (defeating Skyline, Rocky Mountain, Eagle and Timberline).

The Knights took second in the boys 1 singles championship bracket as Kyler Hartman defeated Meridian, Timberline and Boise before falling to Eagle 6-1, 6-2. The Knights also won the girls 4 singles consolation bracket over Columbia, took second to Kamiakin (Kennewick, Wash.) in the girls 2 doubles championship bracket and won the mixed doubles 2 consolation bracket over Mountain View.

Idaho Falls, which won the girls 2 singles consolation bracket over Wood River, placed 17th with 165 points.

Bonneville, which took second in the girls doubles 2 consolation bracket to Rocky Mountain, placed 27th with 121 points.

Skyline placed 32nd with 96 points.
