Tigers move to 3-0 in conference; Sept. 12 volleyball roundup

At Idaho Falls High School, the Tigers volleyball team moved to 3-0 against 4A District 5-6 opponents on Tuesday.

Idaho Falls followed up a 27-25, 25-15, 25-18 win over Preston with a 25-20, 25-11, 25-22 win over Blackfoot.

“We kinda had a rough start, but once we got started, we kept going,” Idaho Falls coach Laurel Craynor said. “Things started to roll our way.”

Versus Preston, Tiffany Schwendiman had 16 digs, Emma Carvo had 37 assists and two blocks and Laurel Taylor had 17 kills. Versus Blackfoot, Katie Montgomery had 12 digs, 10 kills and two blocks, Taylor had 12 kills and 10 digs and Katie Killpack had two blocks.

Idaho Falls (9-6) plays Thursday in Pocatello against Century and Pocatello.

WATERSPRINGS 3, MACKAY 0; WATERSPRINGS 3, NORTH GEM 0: At Ammon, Watersprings remained undefeated in 1A Division II District 5-6 action with three-set sweeps of Mackay and North Gem.

The Warriors defeated Mackay 25-12, 25-9, 25-11 and North Gem 25-14, 25-14, 25-12.

“It was great teamwork,” Watersprings coach Robyn King said. “The whole team did a great job of just playing together.”

King said Abigail Yadon had some “outstanding hitting” for the Warriors and fellow sophomore Joanna Hayes served well.

Watersprings (8-3, 6-0) plays Thursday at Clark County against Clark County and Sho-Ban.

SALMON 3, RIRIE 2: At Salmon, Ririe was edged by Salmon in a five-set conference match. No other details were available by press time.
